We need to rethink how we live during quarantine. Residential architects are experts in offering creative solutions to make this as pain-free as possible. Let’s thrive instead of just getting through each day.

NEW NORMAL.

Who would have thought that working from home would be the best way to fight Coronavirus? While living in quarantine, you have had to live in your home in new ways that you haven’t done in the past. Maybe you have had to create a work-from-home station, or maybe you have had to make a home-school classroom. In my house, we cleared out the living room to make it a home-school/exercise space. My daughter’s gymnastics coach does Skype training sessions for her team, and she rolls out a yoga mat and stays fit via video conference. This is amazing to see how easily a 7-year-old can adapt.

TIME TO ADAPT.

Although our homes may be in a state of disarray, they don’t need to be. With some creativity, you can use the space you already have to create a multi-functional area that enables you to do the things in your home that you used to do elsewhere. For some people, that might mean simply re-arranging some furniture. For others, it may include built-in shelves with wiring for computer stations, WiFi access, or video conferencing infrastructure. Additions onto the home could be another possibility too. Small additions can solve big problems, and they can actually be non-obtrusive to build since they can mostly be built outside your home without the need to open up the existing wall of the house until the end. These strategies could help to keep family bickering to a minimum too. We need to think long term, so it makes sense to adapt now.

I AM YOUR ARCHITECT. I AM YOUR RESOURCE.

Whatever your situation, an architect specializing in residential design is an expert in making life easier in your own home. We are expert problem solvers in this arena, and we have the resources to design a solution and to get it built. The process will start with a phone call, then a video chat/tour, and we will work together to come up with an individualized plan to move forward.

Depending on need, we are happy to offer our expertise for these simple projects without worrying about the cost. Knowing we can help keep you safe (and sane) can be payment enough sometimes! We can discuss deferred payment, reduced payment, trade, sponsoring our less-fortunate clientele, and pro-bono work. Like healthcare providers, truck drivers, and grocery store workers who are all keeping us going, we are also willing to work together and share our design and creative expertise to help mitigate the inconveniences the Coronavirus has caused. Let’s chat and see how we can work together to make our situations better.
